Jazz Combo at the Ramada

So I went and played with the Jazz Combo at the art auction to boost the PHS band. I had written this bossa nova thing and the band wanted to take a quick food break, so Sean and I played that, eliciting much interest from our teacher and my parents, who thought it was cool. And it was. I'll refrain from using the word "heady" to describe it. Oops, I just did.

Anyway, I hung out with the Spazbot and Sean the rest of the night, kicking back, eating cake ("I think I'll have some cake...") and making fun of the guy who looked like our Driver's Ed teacher. The best part was definitely when Spaz's mom got into a bidding war with my sister's soccer coach over a Mets first day lineup lithograph. For a piece that opened at $95 bucks and was fairly unspecial, I was surprised at Spaz's devotion to his beloved (and World Series-losing) Mets. In the end, Mazin's sister and brother-in-law somehow (I still don't understand how) wrangled a second copy of the piece for $225 (the final bid). But really, his mom was crazy. Crazy, I tell you!

So now it's 11 at night, and my mom is getting ticked that I'm up late. Oh well. Time for some Radiohead...I'm thinking Hail to the Thief?

What else? New Coldplay album on my birthday: June 6th. It's called "X&Y," which happens to be a new song of theirs. So let's recap the list of albums I still need to get or will be coming out shortly:
  • Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams (March 1st)
  • Ben Folds Five's remastered and expanded Whatever and Ever Amen (March 22nd)
  • Ben Folds' Songs for Silverman (limited edition with the DVD all the way on April 29th!)
  • New DMB album in May (May 10th is the current rumor)
  • New Guster album in September or so
  • New Radiohead within the next year, if all goes well (they're back in the studio apparently, according to Thom Yorke, so I'm gonna say January/February 2006)
Too much stuff, not enough money.

That's enough for today. I'm gonna watch either The Cable Guy or I, Robot now.

"Run from the zombies, Forrest!"

Stupid is as stupid does.

I can't even believe the stupidity of this town. This is getting ridiculous.
