I saw it finally

Enough said. It was much better than I had expected. I'm way too tired to write right now (as I type it's full of typos), but here's the shortlist:

The Good:
  • Great lightsaber duels, on par with Phantom Menace.
  • Amazing action.
  • The montage of Jedi killings was well done.
  • Anakin burns!
  • The geekfest that is spotting all the things you recognize from the other movies.
The Bad:
  • Poor CG animation. C'mon Lucas!
  • Horrible, horrendous, gag-worthy laughable dialogue.
The Ugly:
  • Horrible, horrendous, gag-worthy laughable dialogue. Or did I mention how much I loathed it?
I give it an 85% by Tomatometer standards.

More to come, including those fabled reviews, this weekend, since I have a full five days off!

P.S. I am going again tomorrow. That's how much of a fanboy I am.

This is cool right now

So as I sit here typing this, my cousin is sitting just a few feet behind me browsing the web/writing blog entries. He and my brother made a nice little LAN setup in the home office using a wireless router, and aside from playing games and chatting back and forth without speaking out loud, we haven't done much else.

But I guess that's the point, isn't it? Or is it not?

Enough philosophizing. Comment.

Oh, and I still haven't seen Episode III yet, while my severely grounded friend did. How does that work? How? But it looks like we'll be going sometime Friday. Only one more day of school, and then I'm off for a grand total of five days. Five days to catch up on my sleep and see Star Wars. Excellent.

In other random news, I just discovered that while searching for "Somewhat Cool" on Google gets you nothing about this particular blog, I do land the number three(!) spot with my filmblog. Too bad I only have three mediocre reviews right now. I guess that's incentive then. Of course, I could also alter the META info for this blog. But I'm too lazy right now.

If you don't hear from me for a while, I've either died of shock or forgotten to update, both due to the movie.

Hah!

So much for those reviews. But my family from Kentucky is up for the week to pick up my cousin, since he's done with school, and they are intent on seeing Episode III. So that's coming up, and I figure I'll just write my reviews after that.

As for life? Hah. I laugh at it. Occassionally. Sure, there's that girl I'd love to ask out (those of you who know, you know), but like that'll happen. Otherwise, it's only two weeks and a day until my birthday, and only a week or so and finals after that until I'm done with school. Yay.

More to come. And anyone who has suggestions about the dating situation but hasn't voiced them yet, be sure and hit me up on AIM. I'd be glad to hear them.

Here ya go

A little niblet to chew on while I write up my reviews. Maybe you know this movie, maybe you don't, but you'll be interested to read my thoughts on it.
"When I wrote Garden State, I was completely depressed, waiting tables and lonesome as I've ever been in my life. The script was a way for me to articulate what I was feeling; alone, isolated, "a dime a dozen" and homesick for a place that didn't even exist. I guess one of the cool things about the success of Garden State is that those of you out there who are "in it" and feeling all these things, can take comfort in the fact that there are so many people commenting on this blog (including me) that can relate. And as lonely as you ever feel, you are not alone."
--Zach Braff, Writer/Director/Actor
Wow. I agree wholeheartedly. This is going in the review, as a starting point.

I know, I know...

All you non-existent people who are reading my blog (I know you're there, you stalkers! Just playing...) are probably bored waiting for me to give another tidbit. Well, here it is:

4 new reviews coming to the filmblog within the next few days.

I've been bogged down, on vacation (separately, duh), and various other things. But I've seen a set of really great and diverse movies that I'm going to write up for everyone. So stick around, and hopefully by the end of the week I can post them.

Just hope, guys, just hope.

P.S. I'll probably post something new here too. So be on the lookout for that.
P.P.S. Songs for Silverman by Ben Folds is out. Everyone should buy it...it's grrrrrrrrrrreat, like Frosted Flakes.
